Blackbeardorilla is a splendid fellow created by Christopher Taylor and he is hanging out in on the cobbled streets of the old part of the city in King Street, where the oldest seadogs pubs are, like the Old Duke. Reminds me a little of Jack Sparrow, look at those gleaming eyes- and the hat and beard details really do something for a chap, don’t they?

The Old Vic is there too. They have a show of Treasure Island on this summer, which I am very keen to see. The Old Vic has renovation work going on at the moment on the building itself so they have built a stage outside in King Street and I have read some wonderful reviews of the production here and here.

I hope we get to see the show.

I am also glad to see that someone is feeding the gorillas….

We’re awash with pirates this summer; here is the Matthew, the full working replica of John Cabot’s boat flying the skull and crossbones,  sailing through the Harbour complete with child pirates and canon firing!  Hold that swing bridge, pirates coming through…
